playground

hi girls, just wondering is anyone else completely frustrated by the new playground being locked all the time. the swings were barely up a week and it was closed. apparently it has been locked as residents around playground have complained that it is only being used by teenagers. this might have been the case before swings went up, as i know i didn't go.  My two love the swings and they'd have more to do there when it was completed. I keep ringing the council for them only to say they'll ring me back. they never do. Just rang again and got direct line of person who is dealing with it. of course he wasn't at his desk when i rang. just wondering what other people think and what we could do as a group about it. cry

It is a disgrace that they have locked the playground. My husband and I walked around to it last week because I had seen a pram in the playground and assumed it had been opened. But no the gate was still locked I asked the lady how she got in, and she told me that she had climbed over the railing and then lifted the pram over. This is so dangerous. Is it going to take a child to fall and seriously hurt themselves before the council do anything about it? What is the point in the council spending the money on the playground if no one can use it? Can you PM me the direct number you have for the person dealing with it, maybe if we all ring they will do something about it.

hi chantell, i'm sorry to hear you walked to playground and it wasn't open. i live just up the road from it so we pass it all the time. my kids always ask to go in.

spoke to ruairi o dooling(i'm sure spelt wrong) and he said it is closed as there was an incident. he wasn't sure but he thinks someone fell. the developer who built surrounding houses built the playground. the developer wants to hand management of playground over to council but council say they won't do it for a few months.that the developer has to do it intially. annoyed at this the developer is the one who has locked the gates in protest. they all are possibly meeting next week but it didn't sound definate. ruairi said council not going to change there policy on this. doesn't sound like situation be resolved soon. i said to him my friend was thinking of trying to get a local TD involved and he said' oh great he'll be ringing me then'. i know probably annoying for him but we should keep ringing. i'm worried about giving out his number at fingal co council but if ring them and ask for him in relations to playgrounds will be connected to him i'm sure. maybe someone let me know if ok to post number and other mommies try and ring too please.x

Oh can you post the number please, think it's ok as it's information that could be found ok. Yeah I agree Sarah we should all ring at least once then that would get a good few complaints!biggrin
I was driving up this evening and the gate was open confused I was surprised as that's one of the first times I've seen it open but I'll check again tomorrow and let you know.
