its like a sore subject but I would really like to see what people think of the school situation at the moment.I put my daughters name down for Loretto for ...............................2016. She wasnt the first name down What do poeple think.I would like to see a responce from the dept of ed or someone who will tell me whats been done, can you imagain in a few yesrs time when all the new primary schools have to go to just two secondary schools!!! I have question around this and will be in contact with my TD for answers, .Im not a happy bunny, cathy
The site in Castlelands was originally supposed to be for a primary and a post primary school but I don't know if that's going ahead, After all the Gael Scoil were given the impression they were getting the site and now it looks like the new Educate Together has leapfrogged them and been promised it, so nothing is written in stone.
I agree with what you are saying, the present primary problem will be replicated in 5/6 years at secondary level unless something is done now.
I would suggest that people ring the dept Ed voicing their concerns and calling for this to be addressed now before it becomes a problem.
Btw I was told that the convent takes names but it doesn't guarantee you a place as they still apply their admissions criteria to the names taken, no matter how far in advance you registered. I might have this wrong but it might be worth checking.
