Christenings

Hi
Finally made it down to Parish office to organise a date for my little ones christening and couldnt believe that earliest date I could get was Jan 6th!! I was hoping for next month - ahh well!
Just looking for some ideas on how and what to organise -
Was thinking of just having something back at our house and if I go with that will need someone to do food!! Does anyone have any contacts in this area ? or any suggestions to make it a fun day! Mainly adults attending won't be many if any young kiddies!!

Hi Karen, wow that's a long wait for a christening! weirdface

I would say to possibly contact the pubs or even the hotel, I'm sure they gets requests for platters all the time. I know you can get Supervalu to make a cake.

In relation to making it a fun day if they aren't many children attending then I have no ideas for you, sorry, lots of kids at Eoín's chistening and I had it in the GAA club near my mother's house so the kids had somewhere to play football when they got fed up. Possibly hire a bouncing castle for the adults to try to recapture their youth - or even a trampoline. idea biggrin

Hope you have a good day anyway.

hope this is of some help to you and good luck, better get onto parish office quickly when my little one is born

The Cock in Gormanston do catering it is part of there main business as they do this under Doherty catering any partys I have been at they have done the catering. I know a communion they catered for this year and the person said it was great no complaints. I think the milestone also can do catering  not 100% percent on it but as far as I know they do.

Can definitely recommend 'The **** Tavern' in Gormanstown for catering. I used them for a first communion party and it was great. They supplied us with a chicken curry with rice and a salad. The salad was all set out in separate containers, mixed salad, tomato, coleslaw, potato salad etc. They use fresh turkey crown and honest to goodness cooked ham. They also supplied brown and white bread, butter, salt/pepper sachets and paper plates and cutlery. I couldn't have bought and prepared everything for the price they charged. They can deliver, but this costs extra, so instead I collected the food and opted for two desserts which they also supply. I ordered food for 25 people and got change from 200 euro. There was heaps to go round and everyone was sent home with the leftovers.

Think about what kind of a day you would like to have. I enjoy having parties at home but they do have some drawbacks. If you're at home, you will probably spend most of the time running around looking after your guests as well as trying to take care of your little one. It can be difficult just to relax and enjoy yourself. Also, if you are having drinks in the house, the party can go on a lot later than you might like, bearing in mind that you might not be getting full nights sleep with your little one. At least if you are using a venue, nobody minds if you have to leave at a 'reasonable time' to get baby home to bed. Plus you don't have to worry about the big tidy up operation the next day. Think I'm just getting lazy in my old age.

Whatever plans you make, hope it's a great day.

Oops just noticed that the name did not appear in my previous mail, but it is as in the one mentioned above. I don't have any associations with the company but just felt that they were worth the recommendation.
