There is a health nurse who meets mothers who are breastfeeding every Wednesday morning in the Order of Malta hall (beside St. George's N.S.) in Hampton St. 10am-11am.
It's a great chance to meet up with other moms in the area who are breastfeeding and also the baby gets weighed everytime you attend.
Plus the benefit of having the nurse there is you can have any questions you may have addresed by her.
I have been attending since Eoín was 3 weeks old and I love going. It's our morning walk and sometimes some of the girls go for coffee after.

I agree. The breastfeeding support group was a god send for me. I had major problems when I started breastfeeding and I don't know what I would have done without the support of both the nurses and the other mothers Also, when Daniel was born, I knew absolutely nobody in Balbriggan and if I didn't attend the group, I probably still wouldn't. I have met a lot of really great people down there.
If you are breastfeeding, I definitely recommend attending your local group (ring your local health centre or ask your public health nurse where your nearest one is).
Another thumbs up for the breastfeeding support group - after all that's where I found out about this site!
Besides that I have to say, it's great to meet other BF mums, talk about our difficulties and sucesses and having the reassurance of the PHN to weigh the babies and answer any queries.
Another brilliant help to me has been the following site www.kellymom.com it's american, and has articles on absolutely every aspect of breastfeeding from how much alcohol can I drink, to what size poo baby should have!!
