Early Childcare Supplement

I was talking to a few other mothers about the Early Childcare Supplement that was promised to us in the last budget and nobody was really sure what was happening on it.  I checked it out on the Oasis website and



  • You will receive €1,000 per child under 6 years old, per year
  • Three payments will be made for 2006
  • It is expected that families will get the first Early Childcare Supplement payment of €250 (covering the second quarter) on the 14th August 2006
  • No payment will be made for the first quarter of 2006
  • There is no separate application form for the Early Childcare Supplement. If you are getting Child Benefit you will automatically get the Early Childcare Supplement

Typical, the day after I post this, a letter arrives in the post from the Office of the Minister for Children basically saying everything that I said in the above post!
