Coughs and Colds

Hi,

Little guy has a cold - poor little thing is snuffling and sneezing, finding it hard at feeds, he's nose is blocked and he's getting frustrated trying to breath and feed at the same time !!

Any tips or advice?

When Rachel had a cold at 5myhs the phn told me to put vaseline on the bridge of her nose and around her nostrils,The petrolium on the nostrils draws out the mucus and on the bridge helps put pressure on the mucus to push it down,It did seem to work and it won't do any harm. She also showed me a massage that was very good .You put the baby accross your lap ,face down, drop your knee so his head is lower than the rest of his body and massage from the base of his back up and around to the brige of his nose ,That really helped rachel .Sorry if it sounds a bit convoluted

Ahh, the poor little thing

That massages sounds good Wendy.  Pity I hadn't heard of it when Daniel was younger

I heard about the Vaseline trick too but haven't used it.  I bought a sea-water spray in the chemist called Stérimar.  It did help a bit but it was difficult to get it up his nose because he struggled so much and it really upset him.  I use it myself if my sinuses get a bit blocked and it's very good!  But it does feel a bit unpleasant so I can understand why he got so bothered by it.

It really is awful when they get sick   I hope Sean feels better soon.

Hi, thaks for your replys and tips, the message sounds interesting !! Will def give that a go... Hadn't heard of the vaseline trick, so will try that too... I don't think Sean would be too keen on me putting anything up his nose either, not too pleasant

Nothing worse than seeing them unwell and miserable :(
