We could meet up in the evenings if anyone is interested?
I can't think of anywhere we can go with the weather so bad unless we just go to each others houses. Or Maybe we could try going to Gymboree in Skerries. But as far as I know most things stop over the summer!
or is there some other club in skerries, if i remember i will investigate tomorrow and post if i find anything coz as you say the weather doesn't look like it's going to improve much
What about making a date for coffee? I know it's not suitable for everybody but it would be nice to get something organised that didn't depend on the weather. What about meeting up in the Bracken Court hotel some morning or afternoon? I know they stop doing coffee at about 4pm in preparation for dinner, so anytime before that?
Hi all, Hope I'm not jumping into the wrong forum here. Have just registered on the site. Living in Balbriggan and have two toddlers who are going stir crazy (along with Mammy here) this weather. Would love to meet up with other 'big people' as I am getting worried by the fact that when I'm out doing my grocery shopping I am finding myself singing the 'Dora the Exploror' and 'Peppa Pig' theme tunes.
I noticed a mail about Cates Cafe and also the Bracken Court. Are these still current during the summer?
Just as an aside, decided to take the lads to Kidzone in Swords for the first time today to expend some energy. Don't know who was more disappointed, them or me, to find out that they were packed out and could not fit anymore in. Does anyone know if that is often the case. Maybe I'd be better off bringing them in the morningtime.
Ha ha! I know what you mean - have found myself singing Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or else the theme tune to Bear in the Big Blue House when shopping and then blushing when I realise where I am! Very embarrassing!
Definitely trying to organise some more coffee mornings - keep watching this space.
Sorry, don't know anything about Kidzone in Swords but if you wanted somewhere to brings them, there's a mother and toddler group in Balrothery that is continuing for the summer (most close during the summer). It's great cos the kids have lots to do and you can have a cup of coffee and a grown up chat!
Thanks for the quick reply. I used to attend the Balrothery group but it used to stop through the summer. I stopped attending as at clashed with my younger child's nap times but that's not an issue now. Great to hear that it is going ahead through the holidays. I think Grainne is a hero with all she manages to accomplish. Will definitely join up again. Thanks for the info.
That would be great thanks. If I make it as far as Kidzone again tomorrow will post and let you know what the guys think of it. All I know so far is that it's 5 euro per child for an hour and a half. Will be worth it if it keeps them amused. P.
Took the two lads to Kidzone in Swords today. They had a great time. There is an area for smaller kids with toys, slides, see-saw and the like. Then there is an area that all children can use. It has a ball pit, and lots of other activities where they can run around. There's a cafe area right in front so you can sit and keep an eye on your little ones, or you can just join in and play with them. The area is very secure. Once you enter, you need to press a buzzer to get back out and children are not allowed through the door unaccompanied. It means that if your kids are old enough to amuse themselves, you can sit back and relax over a coffee without having to worry that they are going to get lost.
I was speaking to a mother there who says that morning is definitely the time to go there as it gets quite packed in the afternoons, particularly with it being school holiday time and the weather being so bad.
By the time the lunchtime nap came around the boys conked out as soon as their heads hit the pillows, so that's worth five euro a head in my book. The five euro gives them an hour and a half and a cup of tea/coffee for me. They are open daily from 10 am to 7 pm. It certainly relieved the cabin fever we've been enduring on rainy days.
Glad Kidzone went well. I've been to a place in Drogheda called the Kangaroo Club which sounds sort of like it. Daniel loved it! The only thing is I've been there twice but it was mid-week during school term so it's probably more busy at the moment.
Was speaking to Dors about the Balrothery Mother and Toddler group and she was saying that the Spanish students use it up until August so it won't be back till then unfortunately
