10mth old...need some ideas for lunch/tea

I need some food ideas girls, I'm sure poor Grace is sooo bored with the food I give her, I know I'm bored cooking it that's for sure.
What she gets now is this...mince beef with tomato sauce, veg and potatoes, same as above except with gravy, sausages & beans etc. I do try and vary the veg so she's getting enough nutrients and vitamins etc. I've given her fish once and she ate it but wasn't mad about it but I'm not too mad about cooking fish myself...yuck!!!!.
I'm still pureeing her meat as we had an incident last week with lumps and she started choking but I'm mashing her veg...oh and btw, she has no teeth yet...gummy baby.

I need some ideas to try and get away from the tomato sauce and gravy.

any help would be great

Amanda

It's amazing how quickly we forget cos even though Daniel's only 2, I honestly can't recall what he used to like eating at that age!!!

I suppose the main thing is to make sure you're giving her enough fruit, vegetables and good quality protein.  I know you may not like fish yourself, but it's a fantasic source of low fat, high biological protein and the oily fish (e.g. Salmon, Mackeral, Trout) are great sources of Omega 3 fatty acids, which are so important for brain development.  They say it takes kids 3 weeks to build up a taste for a certain food so keep at it and after 3 weeks if she still doesn't want it then she genuinely doesn't like the taste of it.  I know sausages are so handy, but they're often full of additives and preservatives, so best to limit them if at all possible.  With chicken, I used to cut it up really, really small for Daniel so he wouldn't even notice it was there cos otherwise he wouldn't eat it.  Keep giving her beans cos they have protein and iron and babies iron stores, as you probably know, start diminishing after six months.  I remember the health nurse telling me to give Daniel the sugar free beans but I honestly feel that a little bit of sugar is better than the chemicals that they use to artifically sweeten sugar free foods (I'm a nutritionist by the way!).

The Annabel Karmel books are fantastic for ideas.  If you want to check out her website or the Wholesome Baby Food website, just click Links on the top of the page.

Hope that is of some help and keep at it, it pays off in the end!!!

I have a 8 month old, and I make all his meals from the Annabelle Karmel book, he seems to love everything I make him, he has never not eaten anything, I find her book great, there is loads of recipes, so my son always gets a great variety of foods. I usually make one recipe a week and freeze a good few portions, my freezer is always full of different foods.
