Any local grants available

Hi everyone,
Ok i'm gonna sound like such a scab here but i gotta ask.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any partnerships or the likes in balbriggan that offer financial support for education purposes
I have left work and started college full time but because i am living with my partner i dont seem to be entitled to any grants from anywhere or social welfare. I was told to ask in my area as you may get some kind of sponsorship. Just wondering if anyone has heard of anything

If i dont get some sort of money i'm gonna have to drop out coz paying the creche with no job is killing me cry

Thanks

Hi Linda, that's an honest question and you don't sound like a scab. I'm not too sure though of where to point you, maybe try co-operation fingal or even citizens information they may be able to help.
Hope you find some answers, even try Fas.

Thanks for that. I'm still waiting to hear from fingal co co about the grant from them. Not looking good as they base it on last years earnings and i was working last year.
I will get on to FAS though and see but i think for the likes of them you would have needed to be unemployed prior to starting the course.
Also, (and sorry if i'm being stupid), who is Pauline Macname?

Hi Lindac,
I run a Montessori school here in Balbriggan and i know there is funding available from the Dept of Education and Science,
As far as i know they give 31.75e if your child is in part-time & 63.50e if your child is in full-time.

I think you only get this if you attend one of the following: VTOS, Youthreach,Senior Traveller Traveller Training Programme.

Hth Sinead.

Linda, it's not a stupid question - don't put yourself down! bleh I think she has something to do with Co-operation Fingal who are there to help develop businesses in Fingal (I think) best of luck and well done on going back to college! smile
