Sleep times

Hey guys,

I'm new to the site and have a couple of questions regarding baby's sleep times. Carla is 17 weeks old and shes sleeping good at the moment but I'm terrified of this changing as I'm about to start weaning her this Monday. At the moment, I wake her at 7am for her morning feed and we go back to bed until her 11am feed. I think this may be a bad habit as according to the books I've been reading, we should be up and about after the morning feed! Anyway, for the rest of the day she only seems to be catnapping here and there with the longest sleep being 30 mins. I read that babies her age should be sleeping for 2-3hrs a day and then 8-10hrs a night. When I put her to bed after her 11pm feed, she sleeps through the night which is great but I'd like to be putting her down for the night a bit earlier. I'm thinking if I kept Carla up after her morning feed, that might make her have a longer nap during the day and I could possibly put her to bed earlier that night. Does this sound similar to anyone elses routine?

Hi again kelly!

I think your routine is great! My dd still not in set feeding routine, she is a little grazer, 3oz her 8 oz there, but always makes up her daily quota. We normally get up at 7.45 and she has 1st feed at 8.She also sleeps through the night, and only difference since started solids last week, is has longer nap during the day after the meal.

Once baby sleeping well during the night and having few little naps during day i wouldn't worry too much. The books are a guideline, all babies are different, if your routine works for you stick with it, sounds like your doing great!!smile

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for the reply and your support. What time is your daughters last feed at and do you feed her every 4 hours during the day? Carla is quite cranky come the evening time which is why I'd like to start her bedtime routine after her 7pm bottle and wake her at 11pm for her last feed. I think I'll change her routine on Monday. I'll let you know how it goes.

Kelly & Carla smile

Yes she is feeding every 4 hours mostly, sometimes every 3 hours, depending on how much i can get her to drink! At the moment she goes to sleep for night at 10.She sleeps until 7.30 -8am.

Am hoping in few wks when she on 2nd solid feed to put her down a bit earlier.

ah the joys...
