Stating work as a childminder

Hi everyone,

Bear with me ,have a few questions!

I am hoping to start work as a childminder sometime this year in my own home.I have 2 kids myself, a 9yr old and 4 month old.I would mind 1-2 children, max, on prefrably part time basis( though am flexible with this).Want to provide a cosy home from home environment for the kids and will supply home cooked meals etc..I have a large living room which leads to  good size back garden(Doors very secure, no kids could ecsape lol!)plenty of room for play etc..And will have good routine in place with help from parents.I am planning on doing a childcare course and am currently investigating the different options available. Will do first aid and want to register with health board, and of course have insurance in place too.

My questions are,

Would be better off wating until course completed before start , or is anyone out there working wile studying/or with no qualifications.?

Any childminders out there any advice at all?

And mammys out there, an you tell me what you ould look for from a childminder. At moment working on idea of type of care would like my own children to receive, but would love to hear others veiws too..

Would love to hear what people think of this,i am hoping there is plenty of work available!

Thanks!!smile

Good luck - can't offer any advice but I hope it goes well. Think there is a lot of work available. Are you planning on just working monday to friday or would you be willing to do weekends - I know someone who is looking for a child minder and they work shift.
