Just want to say hi and welcome to Balbriggan Mother and Child Forum. As it has only just been set up, there may not be much traffic or posts so please be patient and keep visiting as it will probably take a while for word to get around and for people to start posting.
I started up this forum because, as a stay-at-home mum, it can be quite lonely at the best of times and as a first-time-mum, quite daunting also. There are many different mother and baby websites and forums out there (see LINKS) but I thought it might be nice to create one where many of us know each other already. It also means that we can set up get-togethers and nights out later on, if people are interested.
In order to gauge how useful this forum board will be, I'd really appreciate it if you could answer the poll above.
Also, if you know any other parents who may be interested in this website, please let them know about us. Thanks
Looking forward to chatting with you all
Regards,
Clodagh & Daniel

Love the site, think it is fantastic to have something local. Hopefully we can get suggestions from people on setting up activities for the kids and for the moms to meet up and get to know more people. Balbriggan needs more community spirit. So here's hoping we'll be up and running in no time at all!
It's great to see such a site up and running locally. It's great to know there is a place where somebody in the same situation can chat and pass on hints and tips. it's even better to know there are other people locally interested in community spirit and getting to know eachother. I;m thrilled to hear about it because I agree that staying at home with your baby can be scary at times and other mums and their babys can become a bit of a lifeline! the breast feeding support group is such a great help and it's great to have somewhere to go to have the baby weighed, in those early early weeks it was especially exciting to see how much Isabella had put on!! it's still exciting but as you know each new step in a baby's life takes over and you are onto trying to get your head around the next bit of development. It all happens so fast. Isabella is 13 weeks now and my head is still spinning at how fast it has gone by!!
Anyway, the site is great and I am looking forward to getting into chats and tips,
Hi to all. this is a great idea and I am really happy to be using it. I hope it does really well and I for one will be logging on a lot as my other half works away most of the time and I get very lonely and it is great to have a chat to others. It would be great to meet up with others in the area for a chat and some time out. Let me know if anyone else is interested in the same.
Glad we have some new members. Like I said before, please be patient and I think it will take some time before we really get things going.

The breastfeeding support group is great (there is a whole topic dedicated to it in the Breastfeeding forum http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=83268&p=3&topicID=7730162 ) - I don't know where I would have been without it either. Watching the baby's development really is amazing and you're right, it does go by so fast. Hope you will keep us up to date on how little Isabella is doing!

My other half is also away an awful lot - he's gone from 5.45am until 9.40pm - so I know how difficult and lonely it can be. Hopefully we can be of some support to you. I definitely think it would be a great idea to meet up. I'm actually considering putting a new section on the board dedicated to organising get togethers (what do you think?).
(Doreen - how about another picnic...? )
Again, welcome to the board and looking forward to chatting with you.
Hi girls, I'm delighted that some more are joining up. I hope that we will see many more join us, so pass the details on.
Clodagh, was actually thinking of having a picnic this Thursday on Moylaragh green 3:30, bring a blanket and food for your own child, that way no extra expense for anyone. Bring a friend and maybe it can become a weekly thing over the summer?!?
Also maybe bring a brolly if you think it might be hot and the kids can lie under it, I'll be bringing a UV blockout tent.
I think meeting up and a section on it in the website would be great as I am sure there are others who would be interested. Just give me a shout and I will be there.
That's fantastic Doreen, thanks a million. Just opened a new Get-Togethers & Outings forum in the General section Click here to view it. and I've posted a message about the picnic.
Thanks again Doreen and looking forward to lots of get-togethers
I;m looking forward to the picnic on thursday, so is Isabella! and it would be great if we could arrange a weekly get together, it does get lonely at times and meeting other mums would be a great support.
Hi, I've just found this site! I'm actually living in Lusk but I reckon that's near enough! I've a 20 month old little girl who is just the bee's knees
Welcome to the board !!! Glad you've joined us. If you are around on Thursday, you're very welcome to join us for our picnic. Click here for more information.
Thanks for the invite on Thursday but I'm working that day. I work part-time and from home some days so hopefully I'll be able to make one of your meetings.
I'm Ruth and I have a 4 and a half month old son Conor. Just a quick hello to say congrats on the site, it looks great and I'm sure it will be a brilliant resource for us all. I'm a bit of a net addict, so I'm sure I'll be a regular poster!
I hope that the weather holds out for tomorrow's picnic and we'll see some of you there.
I'm a bit of a net addict, so I'm sure I'll be a regular poster!
Glad to hear we'll be hearing a lot more from you. If you have any suggestions or anything you'd like added to the board, just let me know. I'm also a bit of a net addict so I'm sure I'll be seeing you around
Looking forward to seeing you and Conor at the picnic.
Im Alan and I think my wife Gino (Ginevra) met one of you at the breastfeeding support group during the week- she's hoping to go to the picnic on thursday- if baby Olivia is ok ! she's 7 weeks old and doing fine,
neither of us are from Balbriggan- Im from Dundrum and Gino is from Rome- so its good to know they are other young parents in Balbriggan looking to arrange things and meet up,
our pc at home is knackered so I'll check this site at work and keep Gino informed,
this kind of site is a great idea- fair play for setting it up, and I certainly intend to use it regularly, and hopefully Gino and I will get to meet some of you,
Glad to hear little Olivia is doing well. Hope to see both Ginevra and Olivia today at the picnic - if not we'll be organising more outings like this so I'm sure we'll see them there.
Just found out about this message board today, my husband got an email about it through the barons hall residents association. So thought i would sign up asap, think its a great idea. I am on maternity leave at the moment and don't know anyone in the area, even though we have been living here almost 2 years !
We have a little girl called Zoe and she is 12 weeks old.
I'm on the resident's committee in Baron's hall if you want to ever meet up. I find that the week can be quite lonely with everyone working, but a few of us on this site wither work part-time or are stay at home moms.
There's a picnic on Moylaragh green today at 3:30pm if you can make it. Just bring a blanket, brolly and food for yourselves.
Should be lots of mommies and babies there.
We'll try to have a picnic once a week until it gets too cold.

I know what you mean. We moved here in March 2005, when I was 6 months pregnant, and I don't think I would have ever met anybody had I not attended the breastfeeding support group.
Looking forward to hearing more about Zoe, and again, glad you've joined up.
Sorry i missed the picnic yesterday we were at a wedding. We are also off on our hols tomorrow so will be away for a week. Will check when i get back and see if there are any get togethers, hopefully the weather will hold out for a few more picnics ! They sound like fun.
Moved to Balbriggan last year and really love it. I know a few of my neighbours (in Trimleston) but nobody further afield. Hope to meet up maybe at the picnics.
I found out about this message board at the breast feeding support group from Doris, finally got my internet sorted so i'll be a visiting regularly !! My son's name is Sean and he's 12 weeks old. He's just adorable and is keeping me on my toes.
I went to the first picnic but missed the one last week so I'm looking forward to the next get together....
Just today found out about this forum, it is good to know you're not on your own! I have a son named Hylke (it is dutch) who will be one year on august 21st!! we moved to Balbriggan nearly one year ago but it has been hard to find people/clubs for mothers and babies so I am very excited to find you all here!!! I read about the picnic this coming friday and hope to meet some of you there if the weather allows for it!!
