Re Town Bus Service

Hey girls,

Just wanted to ask if anyone else thinks that the bus serivce round the town is getting slower every day.  Today we waited for over 45 mins for the bus to come round and on Monday I waited for 35 mins for the bus to come round as well.  Ok I know that I would be quicker walking down the town most days but on the days like today when the weather is so wet and its so cold out its nice to know that the bus is SUPPOSED to be there.

I checked the Bus Eireann web site to see when its ment to come and it says every 20 mins until 19.00 but this does not seem to be happening.

Is it only me or is this bothering anyone else??????????

Yeah Gillian, I have to agree with you.  35 - 45 minutes seems to be the average waiting time these days.  What's the point in having a bus service when, as you say, it would be quicker walking?  It's especially frustrating when it's raining because there's nowhere to shelter.

We waited 35 mins last week.

Is there a complaint section on the bus Eireann website? Somewhere to vent would be nice.

Hi all

After Gillian, Ciara and me nearly froze the other day on our way to the brackencourt waiting on that bus, I actually sent an email to bus eiran.....haven't  heard anything yet but will keep you all posted on any developments there

I believe that the drivers take 1 break at 10am and the second at 4 each is 40 mins so maybe explains some delays?

Hi all,

The problem seems to be that there is a different driver every day taking his/her break whenever it suits him/her.  I was on to their customer service and they forwarded my query to the appropriate department, I haven't had a reply yet but will get back to them myself if I don't have an answer in the morning.

Yeah you're right Rikkie. Let us know how you get on, maybe if we all make a conscious effort to complain when there's an issue with the bus then they might improve it????

Am afraid you were right Gillian, still no answer and now my emails seem to get systematically ignored !!!! Anyway, i decided to do some field research myself, (since I am getting to big and lazy to walk uphill from town to my place)

I made friends with some of the more regular drivers and basically most drivers will take their break roughly between 10am and 11am....so far that has proven to be correct because anytime I wait for the bus outside of those hours I haven't been waiting in vain............I hope it is of any help to you all. In the mean time I shall keep stalking the customer service just because they refuse to deal with me

Oh Clodagh, it can get a lot worse.............ignoring complaints is one thing, I've heard stories of people being grossly insulted just for complaining...........sometimes it is a bad ugly world we live in

p.s. I hope Daniel will be better soon, there seem to be all kinds of infections going around, Hylke just recovered from a throat and ear infection, he's still coughing I hope he doesn't catch whatever it is daniel has

I know, Rikkie, they're so ignorant.

A few years ago, as part of my job, I used to have to take a bus up to Monaghan twice a week.  Even though I'd be in Busaras 30 minutes before the bus left, they sometimes wouldn't let me on, letting other's who were travelling to the last stop on first   I was working with people who were unwell so it was vitally important that I was there on time but sometimes I was two hours late because they might not even let me on to the next bus for the same reasons   In complete frustration I rang the manager of Busaras and he sounded like he was reading a newspaper or something, because he definitely wasn't listening to me   He was extremely rude and just laughed at my problem.

How do they get away with it???

Hope little Hylke is feeling better
